Uganda coach Milutin Sredojevic quashes Saudi speculation

Uganda head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has denied rumours that he will quit the national team, amidst rumours linking him with an exit from the post.

The Serbian manager has acknowledged that there has been interest in hiring him from overseas, but that he is committed to a future with the Cranes.

"Yes it is true some people in Saudi Arabia want my services, but I am still contracted to Uganda and I have a target to achieve here," Sredojevic told KweséESPN on Thursday afternoon.

"There are actually many teams out there who have been trying to speak to me, but I have a mission with Uganda that I must complete," added the coach, who ended the East Africans' 39-year absence from the Africa Cup of Nations when they reached Gabon earlier this year.

Micho joined the Cranes in 2013 after a spell with Villa SC, Orlando Pirates, Al-Hilal Omdurman and Rwanda, and is now focusing on ensuring Uganda eliminate Sudan in their African Nations Championship qualifier on Saturday.

It's not all been plain sailing for the 47-year-old; last year the coach threatened to quit after the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) failed to pay him for over three months.

Sredojevic has a good track record in the CHAN, helping Uganda to the 2014 and 2016 events. He also won the regional Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup in 2015.
