Lyon women's forward Ada Hegerberg became the leading goal scorer in UEFA Women's Champions League history with the first of her two goals in a 7-0 round-of-16 victory over Danish side Fortuna Hjorring on Wednesday. Hegerberg, who last year won the first-ever women's Ballon d'Or award, now has 53 career goals in the competition -- two more than second-placed Anja Mittag of Germany. Lyon have won the competition in each of the past four seasons, with Hegerberg present in each and twice -- in 2015-16 and 2017-18 -- topping the scoring charts. Last season, she scored a hat trick as Lyon beat Barcelona 4-1 in the Champions League final, however she missed the summer's World Cup in protest at the Norway federation's treatment of women. The 24-year-old started her career with Norwegian club Kolbotn in 2010, where she scored 15 goals in 31 appearances before staying in her country with a move to Staebak where her career started to take off. She netted 33 times in 26 matches. Alongside her sister Andrine, she moved to Germany to join Turbine Potsdam in 2013, where her 14 goals in 33 matches earned her a move to French giants Lyon. Hegerberg's career exploded in France and her opener against Fortuna took her to 139 goals in 111 games. She has won 13 trophies in four years with Lyon.
