Europa League round-of-16 draw: When does it take place?
The draw for the round of 16 of the 2019-20 UEFA Europa League will be made at 12 p.m. GMT / 7 a.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 28.
There are no longer pots or seeds at this stage of the competition, so all remaining teams can be drawn together regardless of where they finished in their group, or whether they played in the same group or are from the same domestic league.
Teams from the same national association cannot face each other, nor can teams who played each other in the group stage of this season's Europa League.
From the round of 16 on in, teams from the same city (e.g., Chelsea and Arsenal) are not scheduled to play at home on the same day, due to logistics and crowd control. To avoid such scheduling conflict, if the two teams are drawn to play at home for the same leg, the order of legs of the tie involving the team which are not domestic cup champions in the qualifying season or the team with the lower domestic ranking (if neither team are the domestic cup champions), is reversed from the original draw.
Qualified as group winners/from UCL: Ajax, Arsenal, Benfica, Braga, Celtic, Espanyol, FC Basel, FC Porto, FC Salzburg, Gent, Inter Milan, Istanbul Basaksehir, LASK Linz, Malmo, Man United, Sevilla
Qualified as group runners-up/from UCL: APOEL, AS Roma, AZ Alkmaar, Bayer Leverkusen, CFR Cluj, Club Brugge, Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Copenhagen, Getafe, Ludogorets Razgrad, Olympiakos, Rangers, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting CP, Wolfsburg, Wolves
The first leg for all round-of-32 ties will take place on Feb. 20, while the second legs will be held on Feb. 27, with the exception of Glasgow Rangers vs. Braga (Feb. 26).
UEFA will draw the quarterfinal and semifinal ties on the same day this season, scheduled for March 20.
The final will take place in Poland at the Stadion Energa in Gdansk on Wednesday, May 27.
