Spurs ending Wembley curse can help Europa charge - Harry Kane

Striker Harry Kane is hoping Tottenham have buried their Wembley curse and can now build on their 3-1 win against CSKA Moscow as they drop into the Europa League.

Spurs' Champions League campaign is over after home defeats to Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen proved costly for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

They had lost their last six matches at the national stadium, but recovered from going a goal down to ease to victory against the Russians and offer hope for a successful Europa League run.

"That's what we wanted to put right [winning at Wembley]," Kane told BT Sport 2. "Obviously a lot of people have been talking about it and it's been a bit annoying, so it was good to go out there today and win that game.

"Now obviously we go into the Europa League which means we'll be playing here again, so we can build on this and hopefully go far in that competition.''

When asked what the Spurs squad had learned from their Champions League games, Kane added: "I think to be better at home, you've got to make sure you win your home games, especially against top teams. You are playing the best teams in Europe so you can't rely on away results which we have done this season.

"But we finished the campaign well and restored a bit of pride there to send the fans home happy. Now we just have to concentrate on the Premier League and the Europa League when it comes around.''

Dele Alli, who scored one goal and made a second, could easily have been celebrating more and he said: "It's frustrating when you have an easy chance like my first one and you don't put it away.

"I had a couple more chances after that and started getting frustrated so it was important that when I got my chance again that I put it away and it was good to get the first goal and build on that.

"We felt as soon as the first whistle went we were dominating. Their goal was definitely against the run of play but we had the chance to come again and we knew that if we put them away and stuck to the game-plan we would win the game.''
