Sven Bender: Dortmund want Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in Europa League

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sven Bender is hoping for a reunion with former boss Jurgen Klopp by being drawn against his Liverpool side in the Europa League.

Dortmund finished second in their group, three points behind Russian outfit Krasnodar, after an experimental XI suffered a 1-0 defeat to PAOK Salonika. The result means BVB have now not scored a Europa League goal in over 200 minutes.

The second-place finish ensures that Dortmund can now be drawn in the last 32 against their former coach Klopp and Liverpool, who won their group following a 0-0 draw with FC Sion.

"Those games would certainly be highlights," Bender told reporters. "We'd be delighted should it come to this. But we'd have to hurt him [Klopp]."

Dortmund can also be drawn against other high-profile teams, including Manchester United, Tottenham, Porto and Napoli.

"You can't avoid the big teams when you want to go far. We'll take them as they come, and try to advance to the next round," Bender added on the club's TV channel.

Dortmund defender Matthias Ginter echoed Bender's sentiments when saying that the club "can be relaxed about the draw."

He added: "I don't think a lot of teams want to play against us."

When asked about a possible meeting with his predecessor, Klopp, Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel said: "The later, the better."
