Bas Dost vows to continue rich vein of form for Wolfsburg

VfL Wolfsburg hero Bas Dost has promised more goals when the Bundesliga club host Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Thursday.

Dost, 25, has scored eight goals in his last five league appearances for Die Wolfe, having previously netted 13 in 46 appearances since joining from Heerenveen in 2012. On Saturday, the Dutchman scored four times in his side's thrilling 5-4 victory at Bayer Leverkusen -- including the last-minute winner.

The striker told Bild that his fine run of form will continue in European competition.

"We'll rock the house on Thursday," Dost insisted, as he looked back at his difficult first 30 months at the club. "I did not come here to sit in the stands. I have now shown what I am capable of. I have to keep it up.

"When I run or turn it might not be like [Lionel] Messi, but I am tall guy, and that's not my fault."

Despite Dost's run of form, Wolfsburg will look to reinforce their attack in the summer, according to kicker. The club are on course for a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2009-10, and currently only have Dost and former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner in their squad.

Both players are under contract until 2017, but the football magazine reports that Wolfsburg want more options.
