Fans halt Slovan Bratislava vs. Sparta Prague clash in Europa League

Play was suspended in Thursday's Europa League fixture between Slovan Bratislava and Sparta Prague due to crowd trouble.

The Group I encounter at the Stadion Pasienky was 42 minutes old when Swedish referee Martin Strombergsson was forced to suspend proceedings with the game goalless as violent exchanges took place in the stands.

The players eventually returned to the pitch some 40 minutes later.

The violence comes eight days after a Euro 2016 qualifier between Serbia and Albania was abandoned after a drone carrying a pro-Albania banner sparked clashes involving players and fans on the Partizan Stadium pitch.
