Erik Lamela shines for Spurs, Everton draw at Lille, Napoli beaten

Erik Lamela scored a truly spectacular goal as Tottenham Hotspur cruised to victory over Asteras Tripoli in Europa League Group C -- although the match ended with stand-in goalkeeper Harry Kane allowing the visitors a farcical consolation.

Kane not only scored his first hat trick for Spurs but ended the clash in goal after Hugo Lloris' late sending off. However, Lamela will take the headlines for his wonderful brace in the 5-1 win.

Lamela wrapped his left foot around his right leg to score with a rabona strike from the edge of the box.

Spurs were already a goal ahead at that point thanks to Kane's long-distance strike and their first Group C win was to get better still, with Lamela volleying home from an acute angle before Kane turned home his second from close range.

The 21-year-old wrapped up a hat trick soon after and then donned the goalkeeper's gloves after Lloris was shown a straight red card for bundling over Tasos Tsokanis. The resulting free kick from Jeronimo Barrales squirmed through Kane's grasp, but that was not enough to wipe the smile off his face.

In the same group, Besiktas brushed aside Partizan Belgrade 4-0 with a dominant away showing.

The match was effectively settled by half-time and the scoring was concluded inside an hour, with Veli Kavlak, Demba Ba, Oguzhan Ozyakup and Gokhan Tore all on target.

Everton remain top of Group H after playing out a 0-0 stalemate at Lille in a game overshadowed by trouble involving Toffees fans in the build-up.

The home side went closest to finding a goal in the first half when Idrissa Gueye struck wide.

The Toffees survived another scare after the break as on-loan Liverpool man Divock Origi fired off target, before they went as near as they came to breaking the deadlock themselves, with Aiden McGeady seeing his effort spin off goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and being cleared.

In the same group, Kevin De Bruyne starred as Wolfsburg claimed their first victory of the campaign following a comfortable 4-2 win at Krasnodar.

The Belgium midfielder provided the assist for Ivica Olic to score the opener before notching twice either side of a superb strike from Luiz Gustavo to lift the German side above their Russian opponents in the pool.

Andreas Granqvist, from the penalty spot, and substitute Wanderson grabbed consolations for Aleh Konanaw's men.

Goals from Guillaume Hoarau and Leonardo Bertone lifted Young Boys past Napoli and to a second win in Group I on Thursday.

French striker Hoarau made no mistake for the Swiss team seven minutes into the second half in Bern, and substitute Bertone killed any hopes of a Napoli comeback two minutes into stoppage-time as Rafa Benitez's struggles continued.

In the same group, Slovan Bratislava's game at home to Sparta Prague was halted for 40 minutes as a result of trouble in the stands.

The visitors eventually won the match 3-0, courtesy of second-half goals by David Lafata, Tiemoko Konate and Ladislav Krejci.

Standard Liege put aside their recent troubles to hold reigning Europa League champions Sevilla to a goalless draw in Group G.

Sevilla came closest to breaking the deadlock when Kevin Gameiro struck a post in the second half and it was the Spanish side who looked the more likely winners as the game entered its closing stages.

However, Standard stayed firm and might even have snatched a last-gasp winner before settling for a draw that moves them on to four points in Group G, one behind Sevilla, who remain in first place after Feyenoord suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat to Rijeka.

In-form Croatia striker Andrej Kramaric scored a hat trick in 13 second-half minutes. Jens Toornstra returned fire for the Dutch side after Kramaric's first but the home side quickly re-established the advantage to claim the three points.

Villarreal powered on at the top of Group A with a 4-1 home victory over FC Zurich.

Marco Schonbachler's goal just before half-time cancelled out Cani's early opener for Villarreal, but the Yellow Submarine were back on top after striking twice in three second-half minutes through Luciano Vietto and Bruno Soriano.

Replacement Giovani Dos Santos then added a fourth with 13 minutes to go as Villarreal recorded a ninth successive home win in European competition. They have also now scored four goals in each of their three European home matches this season.

Borussia Monchengladbach recorded their first win in the Europa League group stages this season with a thumping 5-0 victory over Apollon Limassol.

The German side had drawn both of their first two Group A matches 1-1 but a brace from Ibrahima Traore and one each from Branimir Hrgota, Patrick Hermann and an own goal from Angelis Angeli ensured there was nothing close about this result.

Fiorentina maintained their perfect start in Group K with a 1-0 win away at PAOK Salonika.

Juan Vargas scored the only goal in the first half as the Italian side eased to a victory that left them top of the group after three wins from three.

Dinamo Minsk and Guingamp, meanwhile, played out a lively goalless draw.

Stefan Scepovic scored his first goal for Celtic as the Hoops made hard work of beating Astra Giurgiu in their Group D clash at Parkhead.

After taking four points from their first two matches against Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb, and beating Ross County 5-0 away in the Premiership on Saturday, the home side were looking to dominate the section in the double-header against a team considered the whipping boys of the group after two defeats.

A hat trick from Alan helped Salzburg to a 4-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb.

The Brazilian striker struck twice in the first half and once in the second to add to a goal from Andre Ramalho, but the visitors ended the match strongly as Arijan Ademi and Angelo Henriquez made the scoreline respectable.

Trabzonspor pulled clear in second place in Group L with a 2-0 victory over Lokeren.

The Turkish side took the lead nine minutes into the second half through Mustapha Yatabare and made sure of the points four minutes from time thanks to a goal from Kevin Constant.

Trabzonspor now sit three points behind leaders Legia Warsaw, who had won 1-0 at Metalist Kharkiv on Wednesday courtesy of a 28th-minute goal from Ondrej Duda.

Inter Milan maintained their unbeaten start to Group F but were booed off after being held to a goalless home draw by St Etienne.

The out-of-sorts Italian giants could not find the breakthrough in an evenly-fought encounter at the San Siro and dropped their first points in the Europa League group stages.

FK Karabakh of Azerbaijan picked up their first Europa League win of the season by securing a 1-0 victory against Dnipro in Dnipropetrovsk, with Muarem Muarem scoring the only goal.

Raul Rusescu scored a first-half double as Steaua Bucharest claimed a 2-1 win over Rio Ave in Group J.

Rusescu headed the Romanian side ahead in the 17th minute then scored the second on the stroke of half time to put the hosts 2-0 up at the break. Yonathan Del Valle pulled one back for Rio Ave early in the second period with a 25-yard strike but the Portuguese side were unable to find the net again to salvage a point.

Two goals from Nikolaj Thomsen saw AaB to a surprise 3-0 win over in-form Dynamo Kiev.

Thomas Enevoldsen set the ball rolling in the 11th minute before Thomsen netted once in each half to secure the points for a side hardly recognisable from the one battered 6-0 by Steaua on matchday one.

Torino's defence once again proved unbeatable in the Europa League as the Italian side claimed a 2-0 win over HJK Helsinki that moves them to the top of Group B.

Giuseppe Vives hit the bar early on for Torino before Christian Molinaro opened the scoring in the 35th minute and Carvalho Amauri added a second before the hour mark.

Last-gasp strikes from Daniel Amartey and Victor Vazquez added some late spice to Club Brugge's 1-1 draw against visitors Copenhagen.

A relatively open Group B clash had nevertheless appeared destined to end goalless until Amartey's superb strike put the Danish side ahead in the 89th minute.

Then, improbably given what had come before, the hosts levelled in stoppage-time through Vazquez's clinical finish, keeping the Belgians unbeaten with five points from three games.

Abdul Ajagun struck with three minutes left to earn Panathinaikos a 1-1 draw at PSV Eindhoven in Group E.

The Nigerian midfielder poked in from six yards after it had looked like Memphis Depay was going to be the match-winner with his 43rd-minute goal.

Dinamo Moscow claimed a 2-1 win over Estoril as goalkeeper Vladimir Gabulov made a fine penalty save.

Aleksandr Kokorin scored the opening goal with a low swerving shot in the 52nd minute to set Dinamo on their way to victory, which seemed all the more assured when Kleber saw his penalty saved by Gabulov's legs midway through the half.
