U.S. midfielder Weston McKennie: Schalke winner a dream come true

United States midfielder Weston McKennie said scoring Schalke's last-minute winner at Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League was "a dream come true."

McKennie, 20, headed home from a corner to secure the points with his first-ever senior goal for Schalke.

"Today was a dream come true for me, it was truly amazing," he told reporters. "I don't score a lot of goals, but I'm so pleased I managed to get one today.

"I might not be the tallest, but I am a physical player and I can jump."

Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco told his postmatch news conference: "Weston topped off his excellent performance with the goal. He may not be the biggest, but he can jump very high and directed the header well."

And the club's sporting executive Christian Heidel added: "I rarely single out players, but Weston played a top game today."
