Bayern Munich's David Alaba looking forward to facing boyhood club Arsenal

Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has told Bild he will never grow bored of facing Arsenal and is looking forward to two "beautiful" games against the club he "supported as a kid."

Alaba and Bayern will meet Arsene Wenger's side in the Champions League round of 16 in February. It will be the third time in four seasons that the two sides have been pitted against each other at this stage, and they also met in the group stage last campaign.

But there's no danger of familiarity breeding contempt for Alaba, who's excited at the prospect of again facing the Gunners in Europe.

"Although we've faced them on more than a few occasions, for me games against Arsenal are always beautiful because I supported Arsenal as a kid," the Austrian said.

"Playing in London is always fantastic too, almost as good as the Allianz Arena."

Alaba recently extended his Bayern contract until 2021, but has been linked recently with a move to England, with both Manchester United and Manchester City reportedly showing interest in luring the Vienna-born defender away from Bavaria.

He added: "Everyone at Bayern can picture themselves staying here until retirement. I'm very, very happy here, having practically grown up here since 2008.

"But I'm not one for planning many years in advance."

Bayern meet their nearest challengers, RB Leipzig, currently level on points at the top, on Wednesday in Munich. Alaba said it will be difficult to take on the newly promoted side, but also refused to rule Borussia Dortmund out of the Bundesliga title race.

"We'll see during the second half of the season, but Leipzig are playing very, very good football and are successful too. RB won't make it easy for us that's for sure.

"Dortmund will definitely also be a real challenger too."
