Marco Reus scored a late equaliser for Borussia Dortmund as they fought back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
That result ensures the Bundesliga side top Group F ahead of the current European champions.
Goals from Karim Benzema in the 28th and 53rd minute looked to have put Madrid in full control of the game but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck on the hour and Reus, with two minutes remaining, salvaged an unlikely point for Thomas Tuchel's side.
Elsewhere, Legia Warsaw won their first Champions League game since 1995 as they beat Sporting Lisbon 1-0 courtesy of Guilherme's first-half strike. The win saw them finish ahead of their Portuguese opponents and take a place in the Europa League.
A changed Leicester City side went down 5-0 to Porto in Portugal thanks to goals from Andre Silva (2), Jesus Corona and Yacime Brahimi.
Claudio Ranieri, whose side had already ensured progress to the next round, made 10 changes from the side that lost to Sunderland in the Premier League at the weekend and it showed.
Silva headed Porto ahead in the sixth minute before a brilliant Jesus Corona volley in the 26th minute put the hosts firmly in control and Brahimi added a third just before half-time. Silva grabbed his second of the game from the penalty spot on 64 minutes and Diogo Jota added a fifth after 77 minutes.
FC Copenhagen ran out 2-0 winners at Club Brugge but it was in vain as Porto's victory guaranteed them second place and qualification for the round of 16. A Brandon Mechele own goal in the eighth minute saw Copenhagen in front and Mathias Jorgensen headed a second from another defensive mix-up from a corner.
Tottenham Hotspur recovered from an early setback at Wembley to beat CSKA Moscow 3-1 and qualify for the Europa League.
Alan Dzagoev put CSKA ahead against the run of play in the 33rd minute when the Russia international kept his cool to shoot past Hugo Lloris.
But Spurs replied emphatically when Dele Alli, who had earlier seen a good headed effort saved, controlled a Christian Eriksen cross to fire past Igor Akinfeev in the 38th minute before Harry Kane converted Danny Rose's cross from close range in added time at the end of the first-half.
A firm header from Alli looked to have been well saved by Akinfeev before the goalkeeper managed to kick the ball into his own net with just over 10 minutes remaining.
In the other game in Group E, Bayer Leverkusen consolidated their position in second place with a 3-0 win against group winners Monaco.
Leverkusen, who had dominated the early exchanges, took the lead in the 30th minute when Vladlen Yurchenko, allowed too much room on the edge of the box, curled a right-foot shot into the top corner and beyond Morgan De Sanctis.
Three minutes into the second-half Hakan Calhanoglu set up Julian Brandt for a second and Monaco's woes were confounded late in the game when Wendell's penalty struck the crossbar but rebounded in off De Sanctis as Leverkusen scored a third goal.
Gonzalo Higuain ended a four-game scoring drought by scoring for Juventus as they beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 to claim top spot in Group H. The Argentina international took advantage of sloppy defending to shoot home from the centre of the area in the 52nd minute and Daniele Rugani headed a second in the 73rd minute.
Lyon and Sevilla played out a goalless draw in the other game, a result which sees three-time Europa League champions Sevilla qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League and Lyon drop into the Europa League.
