Sevilla condemn 'shameful' supporter clashes ahead of Juventus match

Sevilla have condemned Monday's violence involving their supporters and fans of Juventus and are working with police to determine whether any of their members were involved.

Media reports said at least three people were injured following a fight in the centre of Seville at around 11 p.m. local time.

Sevilla and Juventus face each other in the Champions League on Tuesday, and the Liga club have issued a statement denouncing the trouble.

It said: "Following reports in the media, Sevilla want to show their emphatic revulsion and condemnation of the shameful incidents on Monday night involving alleged Sevilla fans taking part in a serious fight with the supporters of Juventus in the Avenida Reyes Catolicos, and at the same time make themselves available to the police authorities to help with anything that might be needed to determine the facts.

"The club want to make clear that these alleged Sevilla fans in no way represent the club's values of tolerance and respect."

Sevilla, who have won the Europa League for the last three seasons, have asked the authorities to pass on any relevant information so they can take action if any of the guilty parties is a member.

The statement added: "Sevilla have worked with the maximum effort to gain a place among the greats of Europe and cannot allow incidents such as these to tarnish the image of a club that is more than 125 years old."
