FC Basel question ticket allocation for Champions League match at PSG

FC Basel have stated their "regret" at Paris Saint-Germain's decision to limit their fans' ticket allocation for next week's Champions League game in the French capital that could see Swiss supporters boycott the match.

Only 800 tickets have been made available to Basel fans for their team's Group A game at the Parc des Princes next Wednesday compared to 2,000 for Arsenal supporters for their team's match in the French capital earlier in the group stage.

"FC Basel 1893 does not understand why different opposing teams are treated differently in Paris," a statement on the Basel website said as the club sought to "clarify certain points."

"FC Basel 1893 very much regrets this decision, which was not in its hands and which in spite of recent intensive efforts it has not been able to have more of an influence on, not to allow the maximum number of fans to attend the away game in Paris."

The statement added: "Nevertheless, we hope the team will be vociferously supported by the 800 fans travelling to the stadium."

The Muttenzkurve Ultras have called on fellow fans not to attend the game with the group also unhappy that tickets are individually named.

Basel's statement emphasised that allocations for European games at their St. Jakob Park, including PSG's visit on Nov. 1, would be made "within normal boundaries."
