Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti escapes UCL ban - reports

Marco Verratti will not face a Champions League ban after his red card in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal was withdrawn, according to reports in France.

Verratti, 23, and Gunners striker Olivier Giroud were both shown red cards deep into injury time for second bookable offences.

Replays have indicated that Verratti's second yellow was a case of mistaken identity, as it was teammate Marquinhos who pushed Giroud after Verratti had gone to ground.

Both Le Parisien and RMC report that referee Viktor Kassai has amended his report with a yellow card for Brazilian defender Marquinhos.

Verratti should now be free to make the trip to face Ludogorets on Sept. 28, but as Giroud's second booking was not mistaken identity his dismissal and consequent suspension is expected to stand -- he will miss Arsenal's home game against FC Basel.

UEFA is yet to officially confirm that Verratti has escaped a ban.
