Thorgan Hazard hopes to face Chelsea in Champions League with Gladbach

Thorgan Hazard is hoping to face Chelsea and his brother Eden after qualifying for the Champions League with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Thorgan Hazard, 22, followed elder brother Eden to Chelsea in 2012 but was immediately sent out for a spell at Zulte-Waregem, where he was named Belgium's Professional Footballer of the Year, and then joined Gladbach, initially on loan, in 2014.

Having helped Gladbach to a third-place finish in the Bundesliga last season, he is set to play in the 2015-16 Champions League, and he told Bild: "I want to play Chelsea.

"I have never played against my brother Eden. That would be a big thing for the whole family."

He added, with a smile: "Then we would find out who's the better Hazard."

Hazard, who has said he hopes to one day reunite with Eden at Chelsea, made 28 Bundesliga appearances for Gladbach last season, 21 as a substitute, while he provided three goals and three assists in nine games in the Europa League.

"I learnt a lot last season," he said. "I think I have become a better player, because I played in one of the best leagues in the world.

"Of course I hope to play a little more next season, but I know there is huge competition. That is normal at a big club. I will have to work hard and play good to prevail."

He has been handed the No. 10 shirt for next season and hopes to play in that role.

"To play as a No. 10 in central attacking midfield is my best position," he said. "I don't know about the plans of coach Lucien Favre, but I proved that I can play the wings as well."
