Lionel Messi 'just superb' vs. Bayern - ex-Barcelona teammate Henry

Ex-Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has said Lionel Messi is impossible to stop after watching his former teammate score two classy goals in the Champions League semifinal against Bayern Munich.

Messi's brace put Barcelona 2-0 ahead in the first leg against Pep Guardiola's Bayern and the Argentine then set up Neymar to score in injury time to complete a 3-0 win.

Henry, now working as a pundit for Sky Sports, won a Champions League title alongside Messi in Barcelona's team from the 2008-09 season and he said: "Messi is just superb.

"He wanted to win that game and he did it again. You just give him the ball around the box and the rest is history. Maybe Bayern Munich didn't approach the game in the right way in the first half, but in the second half there wasn't much between the two teams. Then Lionel Messi decided to win that game.

"I have seen him doing stuff in training and it is just amazing. When he gets upset, he runs around the whole team. There is nothing you can do.

"When you have Leo Messi it is a big advantage. When you have that man in your side, anything can happen."

Henry also sympathised with Bayern defender Jerome Boateng, who was thrown off his feet by Messi's swift move that led to his second goal.

"I don't care who you are, what type of defender you are," Henry said. "You don't want to let him go on his left foot, so he goes back on his right and does that. What can you do? You just have to hope [Manuel] Neuer can save you again.

"The way he [Boateng] falls is actually funny, but what can you do? You can just go on the floor and watch him celebrate. It's amazing.

"What is crazy is Messi does it all in one step of movement. If I tried to do that, I would fall over. You have to understand how difficult it is to do this."
