UEFA hasn't opened disciplinary action against Real Madrid's Carvajal

NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA says it has not opened any disciplinary action against players after a testy Madrid derby match in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal clashed with Atletico Madrid forward Mario Mandzukic in a 0-0 first-leg draw on Tuesday.

Still, Mandzukic used his Twitter account Wednesday to deny he was bitten on his right arm despite images implicating Carvajal, who also appeared to hit the Croatia forward.

Carvajal insisted after the game: "I want to make it clear that I have not bitten anyone."

But, despite both players' claims, Atletico captain Gabi had called on Europe's governing body to respond.

"I can't judge the incident but if Uefa study the images and see something they should take action," he said. "They are unpleasant incidents and if the footage is so clear then perhaps the disciplinary committee should step in."
