Bayern Munich players content with Porto in Champions League draw

Bayern Munich are satisfied with their draw against Porto in the Champions League quarterfinals. As captain Phillip Lahm put it: "There are trickier opponents."

Bayern, the 2013 winners, were handed a favourable draw in Nyon on Friday. The Bundesliga giants first travel to Portugal on April 15, and then play the second leg at the Allianz Arena a week later.

"There are no doubt trickier opponents, but they have shown their quality," Lahm told Bayern's official website. "But one things is clear: we want to advance to the last four."

The tie is a rematch of the 1987 European Cup final, which the Portuguese side won.

Forward Thomas Muller, who only needs one more goal to become the leading German goal scorer in Champions League history, added: "It could have been worse, but we'll have to watch out."

Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer was also more than satisfied with the draw, which sees him return to the Estadio do Dragao, the place where he first left his mark on the European stage when single-handedly securing his former club Schalke a place in the quarterfinals during the 2007-08 competition.

"I've had good experiences against Porto. We can be satisfied with the draw," Neuer said.

Bayern's sporting executive Matthias Sammer warned his team should approach the games with "modesty and humility, but also with confidence."

CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that Porto are "not a bad draw," while adding that Bayern will need "two good games" to prevail against the Portuguese side, which so far have gone through this Champions League season undefeated and reached the quarterfinals with a 5-1 aggregate victory over Basel.

Porto manager Julen Lopetegui is old friends with his opposite number Pep Guardiola, stemming from their time as teammates at Barcelona from 1994-97 and Spain's 1994 World Cup squad.

The two coaches watched together at the Vicente Calderon as Atletico Madrid defeated Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16 on Tuesday.
