The Italian champions have made a perfect start to the season, winning their first four Serie A games without conceding a single goal, while they also comfortably beat Malmo 2-0 in their Champions League opener at the Juventus Stadium.

Next week will arguably bring their toughest test of the campaign so far, but Chiellini, 30, is looking forward to facing the reigning Spanish champions.

"We've started well and now we need another great game in Madrid," he told Juventus Channel. "We're happy with the start we've made to the season and certainly it's an important signal after the unsettling summer we had. There have been plenty of positive signs which give us reason for hope in our coming games."

Thoughts that Juve may have become complacent by their successes in recent years have faded following their performances this season.

"We're a very solid Juve and we want to carry on winning," Chiellini said. "We've had three years full of success and like we said at the start of the season, we desperately want to continue winning and getting better. Some big players have arrived and they've helped us to lift the quality of the squad while I think the growth of individual players has been constant over the years.

"This is my 10th year here and, year on year, I've felt even more an integral part of this side, of this club and of this city and I'm really happy to be writing important pages in the history of Juventus. I hope to be able to honour the shirt I wear to the end, and give even more joy to the fans, the club and all my teammates with even more victories."
