CSKA Moscow face 3rd UEFA charge for fans' racism

NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA has charged CSKA Moscow with racist behaviour by fans at a Champions League match for the third time in a year.

UEFA says the Russian champions also face charges over crowd disorder which halted play during a 5-1 loss at Roma last week.

Fans clashed with riot police at the Olympic Stadium, and the match was stopped for two minutes in the second half.

UEFA says its disciplinary panel will deal with the case on Oct. 3.

CSKA already must play Bayern Munich in an empty stadium next week as an escalating punishment for fans' racist abuse and displaying far-right symbols last season at matches against Manchester City and Viktoria Plzen.

In the current case, CSKA and Roma face further sanctions for fans lighting flares and throwing missiles.
