Jurgen Klopp hails Dortmund's quick reactions in victory over Arsenal

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp said he was pleased with his team's counterattacking tactics in a dominating 2-0 victory against Arsenal on Tuesday in their Champions League opener.

- Delaney: Dortmund brush aside Arsenal
- Uersfeld: Westfalenstadion hell for visitors
- McNicholas: Gunners listless in Germany
- Manager reaction: Klopp | Wenger

Arsenal had the greater share of possession -- 56 percent -- but managed just five shots, only one on target, to Dortmund's 23 shots, seven of which found the target.

The victory was far more emphatic than suggested by the scoreline, and Klopp said only the performance of Gunners keeper kept BVB from making it more lopsided.

"We had a couple of other possibilities to score, but there were the great reactions of Wojciech Szczesny," Klopp said. "The result of 2-0 was perfect for us because we were playing very strong opponents."

Ciro Immobile and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored either side of halftime, both following darting runs, and Klopp hailed his team's quick reactions.

"We wanted to be a pressing and counter-pressing machine and get the ball whenever possible," he said. "When we get the ball we play very quickly and that's hard to defend against.

"We didn't let Arsenal impose their game and this only happens when you run a lot."
