Stefano Colantuono named new Udinese manager

Udinese have appointed Stefano Colantuono as their new coach on a two-year contract, the Serie A club announced on Thursday.

Colantuono replaces Andrea Stramaccioni, who was dismissed on Monday after just one year in charge.

A statement from Udinese read: "Udinese Calcio announces it has appointed Stefano Colantuono as the coach of their first team.

"His contract will start on July 1, 2015, and the length of it will be two years.

"The new coach will be unveiled to the media on June 8 at the Friuli stadium."

Former Catania, Perugia, Palermo and Torino boss Colantuono had been out of work since being dismissed by Atalanta in March after five years with the Bergamo outfit.

Udinese finished the 2014-15 campaign in 16th place.
