It's been an eventful week since the completion of the U-17 World Cup, the first FIFA event hosted by the Indian subcontinent. While the headlines since then have been dominated by the court ruling that removed All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel from his post, there's a need to look beyond the immediate and see what the World Cup did for India and where Indian football can go from here.

Champions England dominate ESPN's U-17 World Cup Team of the tournament

England lifted their first U-17 World Cup title, capping off an incredible year of success for their junior teams, with a 5-2 win over Spain in the U-17 World Cup final in Kolkata, India over the weekend. The tournament saw record crowds and a new record for most goals at an U-17 World Cup, with several young players standing out.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has said he feels England's outstanding run of youth team success means the country will have a future senior side that will be "very difficult to beat."

England Under-17 World Cup-winning manager Steve Cooper has said Gareth Southgate's senior side have every chance of benefiting from the youngsters' success.
