ESPN FC's Alexis Nunes discusses the Fenerbahce manager's statements that there has not been any falling out between he and Robin van Persie, ahead of their Europa League match against Celtic.

Fenerbahce boss Vitor Pereira has played down talk that he has fallen out with Robin van Persie, saying: "Many times in football to win games you need these kinds of tensions."

Van Persie, who joined Fenerbahce from Manchester United in the summer after indicating he wanted regular first-team football, but the Dutchman has been on the bench for Fenerbahce's last two games after a disappointing showing in the 3-1 Europa League loss to Molde.

Germany boss Joachim Low: I have not written off Mario Gomez

Mario Gomez's last international appearance came against Argentina in September 2014.

Besiktas striker Mario Gomez still has an international future, Germany coach Joachim Low has said.

Gomez, 30, won the last of his 60 caps for the Nationalmannschaft in September 2014 when they lost to Argentina in a friendly, having struggled for game time at Fiorentina during his final season with the Italian club.

Since moving to Besiktas on a two-year loan in the summer, however, he has impressed and scored a brace in the 3-2 victory over local rivals Fenerbahce at the weekend.

Mesut Ozil to receive offer from Fenerbahce - Arsenal star's agent

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says his side let themselves down by conceding a second goal, as they lost 2-1 away to Dinamo Zagred in the Champions League.
ESPN FC's Craig Burley thinks Arsenal will recover from their loss to Dinamo Zagreb on matchday 1 of the Champions League.

Fenerbahce are to make a "serious" offer for Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, according to the player's agent.

Ozil, 26, signed for Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013 for a club-record fee of £42.5 million.

The Germany international has since made 78 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 12 goals, helping them lift consecutive FA Cup trophies.

Ozil, whose parents are Turkish, was quoted as saying in the Sabah newspaper in July: "In the future I want to wear a Fenerbahce shirt. It would be an honour. Everyone...

Turkish Super Lig offers German footballers more than just big wages

Harald Schumacher moved to Fenerbahce in 1988, paving the way for countless German internationals who would later join the Turkish league.

In February 1987, Cologne and West Germany goalkeeper Harald "Toni" Schumacher made a mistake. He published a book.

His tell-all memoirs about life in the Bundesliga were filled with all the right ingredients -- mainly drugs in the form of doping, sex and in-fighting -- to make it a bestseller. It also derailed his career.

Schumacher was fired by Cologne and lost his place in the national team. Suddenly he was virtually unemployable and the only club willing to take him on were Schalke. The...

Wesley Sneijder agrees new Galatasaray contract - president Ozbek

The playmaking abilities of Wesley Sneijder could be just the thing that tips the Serie A title race squarely in favour of Juventus.
Wesley Sneijder has starred for Galatasaray since signing from Inter in January 2013.

Galatasaray chairman Dursun Ozbek has announced that Wesley Sneijder will sign a new two-year contract with the club.

Sneijder, 31, has been linked with a move away from the Turkish champions this year, with Juventus interested in the former Inter midfielder in January.

The Netherlands international elected to stay with the Istanbul club this summer, and club president Ozbek says Sneijder is now close to signing a new deal.

Ozbek told the club's official website: "Sneijder's contract will be renewed....
