Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann warned after throwing bottle at fan

The German Football Association (DFB) has warned Hoffenheim head coach Julian Nagelsmann after he threw a bottle at a supporter during the 3-1 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Nagelsmann threw a bottle into the stands and struck the fan on his head after Thorgan Hazard had pulled level for Monchengladbach near the hour-mark.

Nagelsmann, who said he had meant to hit a wall, apologised to the 61-year-old Hoffenheim supporter.

The DFB chose not to open an investigation into the incident and instead submitted a written warning to the Hoffenheim boss.

"He did not intend to hit the spectator with the plastic bottle," the DFB said in a statement. "And the coach personally apologised to the spectator and in public."

However, the DFB warned Nagelsmann "to refrain from throwing such objects in the future."

Following the incident, Nagelsmann said he was sorry and that this "must not happen and will not happen again."
