Hoffenheim coach Markus Gisdol has described speculation that he could lose his job after a run of one point from four games as "madness."

Gisdol's side, who lost midfielder Roberto Firmino to Liverpool in the summer, brought in players including Chile international Eduardo Vargas, former Germany attacker Kevin Kuranyi and Switzerland defender Fabian Schar.

Four games into the Bundesliga season, the new-look side are one of five not to have won so far and picked up their sole point at new boys Darmstadt.

Hoffenheim have lacked firepower, scoring only three goals, and Gisdol -- who took charge in April 2013 -- told a news conference: "We are in a difficult phase.

"Sometimes things are not just great, great, great. There are difficult phases. If you fight through them together, everything will be fine."

Saying speculation over his future was "madness," he added: "We have only played four of 34 games. Things will be put into perspective.

"We have not collected enough points, but we could have had six or seven points. We have really only played one bad half."
