Markus Gisdol extends Hoffenheim contract for two more years

SINSHEIM, Germany -- Hoffenheim coach Markus Gisdol has extended his contract by two years to June 30, 2018.

The 45-year-old Gisdol is quoted on Hoffenheim's website as saying "the agreement lays the foundation for us to make middle to long-term personnel planning in a clear, calm and concentrated manner."

Hoffenheim sports director Alexander Rosen says the contract extension is "a sign of stability that allows the club to grow and prepares it for the future."

Since taking over from Marco Kurz on April 2, 2013, Gisdol has led the side to 24 wins and 20 draws from 69 Bundesliga games.

The team is currently seventh, two points off Augsburg in the last Europa League qualification place with six games remaining.

Hoffenheim hosts Bayern Munich on Saturday.
