Claude Robin sacked by Ligue 1 strugglers Troyes

Troyes have sacked coach Claude Robin with the team stranded at the bottom of Ligue 1.

The club posted an official statement on their website confirming the news, which comes with them nine points adrift of second-bottom Toulouse and 15 points off safety.

The statement read: "The club management have discharged Claude Robin from his first-team duties. In a very difficult sporting context, this decision has been taken to preserve the interests of everyone.

"The first team will be managed, until further notice, jointly by Mohamed Bradja, Michel Padovani and Olivier Tingry."

Troyes have won just once in the league all season, coming from behind to win 3-1 at Lille on Jan. 23.

However, they have suffered back-to-back defeats since then, with Wednesday evening's 4-0 hammering at Guingamp the final straw.

Robin, speaking after that loss but before news of his dismissal was confirmed, told L'Equipe: "When you have lost 4-0, you are silent. It's not easy.

"It's very, very frustrating. We tried to come here and play sensibly to change things, but we conceded a goal after five minutes.

"I hope we at least learn from it. I'm tired of being a 'points machine' for other teams. They only have to turn up against us to take points, that annoys me.

"There are several months left in Ligue 1, we will go out with weapons in hand. We will not quit."
