Poch worried about Alli injury record

Mauricio Pochettino has said he is concerned about Dele Alli's recurring injury problems after the midfielder missed Tottenham's match against Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup on Sunday.

Alli, 23, was unavailable for selection with a hamstring problem as Inter beat Spurs on penalties at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The England international missed nine Premier League matches last season with a similar problem and Pochettino said he is going to miss the opening games of the new campaign.

"I don't know if the club communicated the time [he'll be out] but I don't believe he's going to be ready for the start of the season," he said in a news conference.

"Yes, of course we are worried. He's still so young. Just 23 years old and many, many hamstring problems in the last few years.

"It's to pay attention to what is going on in his body, but we are here to try to help him. Only a few weeks before he can be available again and be with the group."

Alli is set to miss the first league game against Aston Villa on Saturday and he is also unlikely to feature against Manchester City on Aug. 17 and Arsenal on Sep. 1.

Pochettino also said that he has not spoken to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about signing more players before the transfer window closes next week.

"He's in Miami and I didn't have the opportunity to talk to him," he added. "I am happy with my squad. You can see today a lot of younger players.

"In every season we are always open to improve the squad and to try to find the right players to be stronger and better and there are still four days. We'll see what happens in the next few days."

The Spurs boss recently distanced himself from the club's lack of activity in the market this summer.

Pochettino also said there will be an update on Juan Foyth's fitness in the next few days after the defender picked up an injury in the Audi Cup win against Bayern Munich.
