Danny Rose comments forgotten now - Tottenham's Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris and vice-captain Harry Kane have said the players were not affected by defender Danny Rose's controversial interview last week.

England international Rose criticised Tottenham's wage structure, ambition and transfer strategy, urging the club's hierarchy to sign big-name players in the summer window.

The left-back claimed he should be earning more than his reported £65,000-a-week wages and, although he stressed that he was not speaking for his teammates, it has since been suggested many feel similarly.

Rose apologised and manager Mauricio Pochettino said the issue was in the past ahead of Sunday's 2-0 win at Newcastle.

And speaking after the game, goalkeeper Lloris said: "Danny is part of the team and we understand his frustrations. It has been six or seven months he has been out of the team with an injury.

"The team is quiet about it. Danny made a mistake -- he apologised, and we move on. That's it. The team was never affected by it.

"We stick together and must be focused and have the same ambition.

"We stayed calm. We are still in touch with Danny and there is no problem. If people from outside want to make trouble it does not affect us.

"Sometimes you can make mistakes. The thing is not to repeat them. The most important thing is that the leaders of this team are not affected and we are moving on and we showed it. The commitment inside the squad is great."

Kane said the situation "has been put to one side" and added: "Danny said what he said. We've all moved on from it.

"From our point of view we're strong, we're all Tottenham players, we're here for a reason and that's to play for the club.

"That's what we've got to do, just focus on the pitch. That's all that matters. It wasn't really a big thing at the training ground, to be honest."

He praised the travelling Spurs fans who travelled to Newcastle and said: "We had great support as we always do. That's all it comes down to -- playing on that pitch and winning those games."
