Tottenham Hotspur's Erik Lamela wants to sign new White Hart Lane deal

Erik Lamela has told the London Evening Standard he wants to become the latest Tottenham player to sign a new contract.

Eight Spurs players including Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Eric Dier have signed long-term deals this season, while Lamela has been in talks with the club.

The 24-year-old, who joined Spurs from Roma in a £30 million deal in 2013, is one of the club's top earners on around £70,000 a week.

"I would like to [sign a new deal] because I am very happy here," he said.

"I feel part of this team, which is improving. I have a group of excellent teammates and I feel very good around them.

"It would make me happy to play for more years in this shirt. Will I be the next to sign? Let's hope so."

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris said he was in "no rush" to agree a contract extension after Saturday's draw at Bournemouth, but Jan Vertonghen could commit his future to the club in the coming weeks.
