Hugo Lloris not in any hurry to sign new Tottenham Hotspur contract

BOURNEMOUTH -- Hugo Lloris says he is in "no rush" to sign a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

Eight Spurs players, including Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Eric Dier, have agreed new contracts this season and Jan Vertonghen, who is in talks with the club, said this week he "hoped" Lloris would be the next player to sign.

Lloris has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current Tottenham deal after signing a five-year contract in July 2014, shortly after Mauricio Pochettino's appointment as manager.

"At the moment I just think about the close future, the next game and I repeat that I feel very pleased to be a Spurs player and to be the skipper too," the France international told reporters after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Bournemouth.

"I feel very involved and I try to do my best for my team and my club. I don't think at all about my future. I'm under contract too and there's no rush to think about that.

"I'm just doing my job as I've done now for more than 10 years. I always try to help my team, try to be decisive and when it's the case, of course the feeling is good. The most important thing for me is my team and like all my teammates I'm disappointed because we expected more from this game [against Bournemouth]."

Spurs missed the chance to go top of the Premier League, albeit temporarily, after only taking a point from the Vitality Stadium -- their third consecutive draw since the dominant 2-0 win over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Pochettino accepted after the match that Tottenham needed to have beaten either West Bromwich Albion or Bournemouth to be considered genuine title contenders, but Lloris credited the Cherries and felt the 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns last week was a bigger source of regret.

"I think we could have more regrets about the West Brom game because the first half was fantastic and we just needed to score. Today that was not the case," he said. "Even if we had control of the ball, we didn't create a lot of chances and maybe the credit is for the opponent today. With the quality we have in the squad, we must do better.

"They put on a lot of pressure in the first 15 minutes. They tried to play as high as possible and put pressure on -- but it didn't affect our build-up so maybe they changed a bit the plan and they maybe played a bit deeper. It's true that when it's the case you need to play a bit wider than usual, try to create space, make a lot of runs and that's what we tried today but it was not enough.

"When you face defensive teams like today they play very deep and you have to find a solution on the pitch. But we're not the only team to struggle in that circumstance and we just need to keep working, try to improve. The season is very long so we will see where we will be later in the season.

"We cannot be pleased with one point today. It's not enough. We are more ambitious than that. We need to be more clinical, we need to be more aggressive in front of the goal. In general it's to be more aggressive in the last 30 yards."
