Tottenham's Hugo Lloris hopes disappointment brings success

Hugo Lloris hopes heartbreak with Tottenham Hotspur and France will make him even hungrier for club success next season.

The France captain played every minute of the Les Bleus' Euro 2016 campaign but missed the chance to lift the trophy on home soil after Eder's extra-time strike claimed victory for Portugal in Sunday's final in Paris.

Before joining up with France, Lloris missed just one league match as Spurs challenged Leicester City for the Premier League title, only to collapse in the final weeks of the campaign.

He hopes the double disappointment will spur him on during the season ahead.

"It was a big and long season and unfortunately, without a trophy with Tottenham and France," he told the Daily Mirror.

"But I can be proud to take part in Tottenham's season and the French national team's adventure.

"I hope it will give me more hunger for next season."

Lloris added: "You always need to look forward. It's true that it's a big frustration and a disappointment.

"But in football you always need to be positive and keep your chin up, especially when you've done your best."
