Hugo Lloris: Mauricio Pochettino behind Tottenham Hotspur revival

Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris says Mauricio Pochettino deserves the credit for the club's improvement this season and that the players still do not know their "limits."

Spurs' faint hopes of winning the title ended on Monday after their 2-2 draw at Chelsea confirmed Leicester City as champions but they are guaranteed their highest-ever Premier League finish and remain on course for a club-record points haul.

The transformation of the club since Pochettino's arrival as head coach in summer 2014 has been remarkable and the Argentine is set to sign a new five-year contract this week.

Lloris was linked with a move away from Spurs last summer but the France international says everyone at the club is excited for the future under Pochettino.

"The credit is for the manager. We can feel from inside and you can feel it from outside that the club is improving, step by step," Lloris told talkSPORT.

"We have a young and talented team and it's difficult today to know where our limits are. We try to build potential every day and we need to work hard every day. We feel now we're ready to compete and we're all excited to think about next season because we felt we improved a lot this season. It was a good experience to play for first place and we need to carry on all together."

Next season will see the arrival of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and Antonio Conte at Chelsea, while Manchester United could also appoint a new manager and Liverpool are likely to continue their improvement under Jurgen Klopp.

Lloris, however, is unconcerned by increased competition in the Premier League, insisting the Spurs players believe they can achieve greatness.

"All the clubs try to do better and better every season but the main thing is to be focused on ourselves," he said. "We know we're capable of achieving great things because we have great belief in the squad. We are really talking about the team -- of course there are some individuals doing good performances but the main thing is the team.

"We feel all the players are committed and responsible and we're all going in the same way. We'll try to be as consistent as possible."

While Spurs are guaranteed a top-three finish in the league, they need three more points from their remaining two games against Southampton and Newcastle to all but ensure a first finish above rivals Arsenal since the 1994-95 campaign.

Lloris said: "Finishing second means a lot for the players. It will be a good achievement to finish above massive clubs like Arsenal, Man United, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea. It will mean a lot. That's why it's important to finish in this place. For that, we need to finish the job against Southampton."
