Tottenham's new stadium approved by Haringey Council

Tottenham's new stadium project has received a further green light after Haringey Council approved the plans.

Work has already begun on the 61,000-seater stadium a stone's throw from White Hart Lane, after Spurs were granted permission by Haringey Council for the £400 million Northumberland Park project in mid-December.

In February, London Mayor Boris Johnson approved the plans, and on Friday the club confirmed the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Greg Clark had added his approval, leading Haringey Council to rubber stamp the project.

A statement from the club read: "The Club can confirm that the Secretary of State has written to the London Borough of Haringey stating that he does not propose to call in the planning application for the Northumberland Development Project and Haringey Council has today (15 April 2016) granted permission for the scheme."

Next season will be Spurs' last at White Hart Lane and they will spend the 2017-18 season away from Tottenham -- most likely at Wembley or Milton Keynes Dons' stadium:mk -- while the old ground is demolished and the new stadium is completed.

They are due to move into their new state-of-the-art home -- which will host up to 16 non-football events per year, including NFL matches -- for the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
