Tottenham boosted by return of Clinton Njie for Man United game

Tottenham Hotspur's fading Premier League title hopes have been given a boost by the return of Clinton Njie to full training.

Speedy winger Njie has been absent since mid-December after undergoing knee ligament surgery, but he trained with the squad on Wednesday ahead of Sunday's make-or-break visit of Manchester United.

Prior to picking up the injury in Spurs' 4-1 Europa League win over Monaco, Njie had made seven substitute appearances in the Premier League, impressing in cameos against Manchester City and Liverpool.

Spurs were without fellow winger Erik Lamela for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield, a result that leaves them seven points behind league leaders Leicester with six matches to play, but the Argentine is expected to return this weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to risk Njie from the start after such a prolonged absence, but Jan Vertonghen, missing since January with a knee injury, is fit to face fifth-place United.
