Tottenham's Mousa Dembele faces two weeks out, Kane misses Fiorentina

LONDON -- Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that midfielder Mousa Dembele will miss "10 days to two weeks" with a groin injury.

Dembele is out of Thursday's Europa League round-of-32 second leg against Fiorentina after suffering the injury in the first half of 1-0 FA Cup fifth round defeat to Crystal Palace. He is joined on the sidelines by Harry Kane, who has a broken nose.

But Pochettino expects England striker Kane, who suffered his injury in the same game, to be fit to face Swansea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Dembele, who signed a new contract last month, has been one of Spurs' best performers this season, and the 28-year-old faces a race against time to be fit for the crucial North London derby at home to Arsenal on March 5.

He will miss the clash with Swansea and the trip to West Ham United after a recurrence of the same injury that sidelined him around Christmas.

"The good news is that Hugo [Lloris] is back in the group and available for tomorrow," Pochettino told a prematch news conference. "The bad news is that Harry and Mousa Dembele are out for tomorrow.

"Harry Kane will be available for Sunday. On medical advice, it is impossible [for him] to play against Fiorentina.

"Mousa we expect [to be out for] longer than Harry -- 10 days to two weeks. It's not a big issue, but similar to before. It's small but we have a lot of games ahead, so it's come at a very bad moment."

Pochettino will also be without Tom Carroll, Clinton Njie and Jan Vertonghen against Fiorentina, while teenagers Cameron Carter-Vickers and Shayon Harrison could be included.

"We believe in them, believe they can help the team from here until the end of the season," Pochettino said of Carter-Vickers, an 18-year-old U.S. under-21 centre-back, and 18-year-old forward Harrison. "They have potential to be players for us."
