Tottenham have 'no intention' of selling Mousa Dembele, sources say

Tottenham have 'no intention' of selling midfielder Mousa Dembele in this transfer window, a source has told ESPN FC.

Reports in several newspapers have linked the Belgian international with a move to Sunderland amid suggestions that he could be in line to follow Younes Kaboul's path from Spurs to the Stadium of Light.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, however, is keen to retain the services of Dembele for another season, with the 28-year-old midfielder eager to force his way back into the club's first-team plans after he struggled to make his mark last season.

Dembele started just 10 Premier League games for Tottenham last season and was used 16 times as a substitute, while he also made 14 further appearances in cup competitions.

ESPN FC reported last month that Dembele planned to hold talks with boss Pochettino when he returned to preseason training and those discussions have concluded with the player and his manager keen to work together in the upcoming season.

Dembele has two years left on his current contract, but suggestions that he is keen to seek a move away from the North London club have been dismissed by sources close to the player.
