U.S.' DeAndre Yedlin settled, ready to target spot on Tottenham first team

DeAndre Yedlin impressed for Tottenham during their two-game tour of Malaysia and Australia.

SYDNEY -- Tottenham Hotspur full-back DeAndre Yedlin has set his sights on cementing a place in the first team after a whirlwind first six months at White Hart Lane.

Speaking after Tottenham's 1-0 postseason friendly win over Sydney FC on Saturday night, the United States international revealed that he was beginning to feel at home in England after making the move from Seattle in January.

"It's wonderful. I've had the chance to really take my time with things," Yedlin said.

"I've committed to England, to London and to the my new life there and the team. Everybody has been great."

Now settled in, the 21-year-old's attention has turned to making an impact for Spurs in the 2015-16 campaign.

"[Next season], I want to make more appearances and integrate into the team a little bit more. I'm comfortable with my life here now so now it's just on the field stuff [that I need to work on]."

Before the Premier League returns in August, though, Yedlin is determined to help the U.S. team win the CONCACAF Gold Cup on home soil.

"It's in the U.S. so we're really looking forward to playing in front of our home fans and hopefully doing very well in the tournament," he said.

"You have to set your sights high. That has to be the goal for every tournament that we enter -- whether it's the World Cup, the Copa America or the Gold Cup. If you don't set your sights that high, you're never going to get there."
