Harry Kane's rise will continue, says Harry Redknapp

Former QPR and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp expects Harry Kane's remarkable rise to continue after the Tottenham striker scored 79 seconds into his England debut.

Kane is preparing for the friendly against Italy on Tuesday after coming off the substitutes' bench to net in last Friday's 4-0 Euro 2016 qualifying defeat of Lithuania at Wembley.

For his club team, Kane has scored 19 league goals and is tied with Chelsea's Diego Costa for the Golden Boot lead.

"I'm sure he will keep being successful because he loves football. He lives for football,'' said Redknapp, who will return to management for a charity match in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. "He puts the time in on the training ground, he's dedicated and he wants to be a top player. So he's got a great chance.

"So many of them come in, get contracts and think they have made it then, but Harry's not like that. He's well grounded, has a good family behind him. I don't see any reason that his career shouldn't continue to go onwards and upwards.''

Redknapp, who revealed he tried to loan Kane for QPR, added, "You love to see a boy like that doing well. He's a down to earth normal lad; there's no big time Charlie. He's a really lovely boy.''
