Tottenham closing in on signing Milton Keynes Dons midfielder Dele Alli

Tottenham are set to win the race to sign Milton Keynes Dons youngster Dele Alli, sources have told ESPNFC, with the player undergoing a medical at the club.

The future of Alli, 18, has been the subject of speculation during this month's transfer window with a host of Premier League clubs reportedly after his signature.

The midfielder, who has 12 goals this season, is regarded as one of the best young prospects in the country and MK Dons are resigned to seeing him move on to play at a higher level.

Newcastle and Aston Villa have both been credited with an interest in Alli, while Liverpool have been long-term admirers of the England under-19 international.

He had appeared set to join the Magpies in a deal that would see him return to MK Dons on loan for the rest of the season.

However, Tottenham have since hijacked the transfer and appear to be in pole position to land Alli as they look to bring the player to White Hart Lane.

As part of the deal, he will be loaned back to MK Dons for the rest of the season as Karl Robinson's side battle to win promotion from League One.
