Harry Kane: Tottenham have momentum in race for the top four

Tottenham striker Harry Kane believes the race for a top four finish is "wide open" but thinks that his side are currently in the kind of form that could propel them into next season's Champions League.

Spurs head into Sunday's game against top four rivals Manchester United at White Hart Lane boosted by a run of four straight victories, with their Boxing Day win against Leicester moving them to within two points of fourth placed Southampton.

"The top four is wide open at the moment," Kane told the Tottenham and Wood Green Journal. "There are a lot of teams in the hunt so we've just got to keep performing and keep focused.

"We've definitely been playing better in recent weeks, and in the last couple of months we've got used to the way the manager wants us to play. I think it's coming together.

"Man Utd's a tough game on Sunday, everyone knows that, but we go into it after winning our last four on the bounce, so there's definitely a bit of momentum for us there and hopefully we can take it into the game."

Kane, 21, believes he is maturing and getting stronger, and suggested he is ready for the sustained run of Premier League starts that have come his way in recent weeks.

"I'm confident at the moment, I just want to be playing," he added. "There are plenty of games over Christmas so that's been good for me. I just want to get out there and I feel confident and we're picking up wins as well, which is even better.

"I've done a lot of gym work, especially this season, in preseason and I think I've just developed as I've got older as well. I'm 21 now, my muscles got bigger and I grew a bit as well. It was all fairly natural and then, when you're working on top of it, it comes together. Definitely in the last year or so I've got fitter and stronger, and it's helped my game.

"We did a lot of gym sessions and fitness sessions and I think it's helped us. We looked fit going into the Christmas period -- when some teams fizzle out we're looking good and hopefully we can continue that."
