Pochettino hails resolute Spurs

New Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino said he told his side to sustain their attacking tempo after Kyle Naughton's sending off in the first half of their 1-0 win away to West Ham on Saturday.

- Delaney: Three points on West Ham-Spurs
- Fitch: Spurs avenge previous West Ham struggles

Naughton was shown a red card after handling in the box in the 29th minute, but Mark Noble missed the resulting penalty.

"We didn't change our style after the red card, we kept thinking about scoring," Pochettino said. "That was the signal from the dugout to the pitch and that was the most important thing."

Spurs kept the score level until the Hammers' James Collins received a second booking after the hour mark, and debutant Eric Dier pounced in the 90th minute to hand Pochettino victory at Upton Park.

Hailing Dier's debut goal, Pochettino said: "I'm very pleased for him and like all the team he had a great performance.

"He's still young, but he showed last week and again today he can produce a great performance, he's calm, he has quality and potential but he's still young.

"We need to give him chances to play but also to be careful -- but today I think he was the hero."
