New Tottenham signing DeAndre Yedlin has revealed that United States coach Jurgen Klinsmann helped him decide to join the Premier League club.
- Crace: A new era begins at Tottenham
Yedlin, 21, who impressed for Klinsmann's side at the World Cup, sealed his switch from Seattle Sounders to Spurs on Wednesday.
And the United States international told the club's official website that the former Tottenham striker urged him to make the move to White Hart Lane.
"I talked to him [Klinsmann] a lot about this move and he really supports it," Yedlin said. "I know he has a lot of trust in me and I have a lot of trust in him. He has done a great job with the U.S. team and me personally."
Yedlin went on to praise Klinsmann for taking his game to a new level at this summer's World Cup, while stating that his experience in Brazil has provided him with the perfect preparation for his Premier League adventure.
"Jurgen did a great job with our team, especially the younger players," he said. "He made us feel welcome and made us feel like we belong there, giving us the sort of confidence we need to perform at that kind of level.
"It was a great experience. I was playing against some of the best players in the world, just like I want to do in the Premier League, so it was a great preparation for this. I got to go up against Eden Hazard, which was a pretty big test, so it was amazing."
Yedlin will return to Seattle Sounders for the next few months before linking up with Tottenham in 2015.
And the youngster says he is eager to prove his worth in England under the guidance of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
"I'm very excited to get into the Premier League and challenge myself against some of the best players in the world," he said. "Any time I get an opportunity to take a challenge and come out on top, that is what I try to do.
"I'm excited to join this club and from what I have seen it's amazing. The facilities are the best in Europe, if not the best in the world.
"It's also a great team. The new coach coming in has a style that fits the way I play and that's a big reason I made this decision. I'm excited to learn under him and the other great players in this team.
"Also, I've never been to London before, this is my first time, so it is a great way to experience Europe."
