Giovinco relishing return as Toronto look to book MLS Cup final place

Toronto playmaker Sebastian Giovinco has said he cannot wait to return to action as his side look to seal a second consecutive MLS Cup final place.

After a 0-0 away draw in the first leg of the Eastern Conference finals, Toronto host Columbus Crew in the return game on Wednesday.

And Giovinco, who sat out the first game through suspension, will return to action more than three weeks after he last took to the pitch.

"Everybody wants to play this kind of game. After 23 days, now, finally, we will play," he said. "It was difficult; strange to watch the game."

Giovinco has been working hard in training ahead of the match, with Toronto coach Greg Vanney saying: "We create a training session, the extra work, but it's up to the players.

"What they give to the session is what they get out. His [Giovinco's] focus has been making sure that he is hitting the numbers he wants to hit and that we need him to hit, that he's getting the types of high speed running to simulate the game as much as possible.

"It's those types of things that we're managing and watching closely. He is a highly talented player. The opportunities will present themselves. He doesn't need to force anything."

Giovinco's teammate Jozy Altidore is also in contention to return after being suspended for the first leg.
