Torino boss Sinisa Mihajlovic sorry for shoving assistants over sub error

Torino coach Sinisa Mihajlovic says he has apologised to his assistants Attilio Lombardo and Luca Castellazzi after pushing them when they made an error during a substitution on Sunday.

Mihajlovic wanted Joel Obi to be replaced by Afriyie Acquah during his side's 3-0 win over Sassuolo, but his assistants instead prepared the substitution board to show the number of Tomas Rincon, who actually left the field and was also pushed by Mihajlovic as the coach raged on the touchline.

Obi went on to score Torino's third goal, but Mihajlovic said he should not have been on the field, even if he admits his reaction was wrong.

"You know that games can be decided by the smallest of details and it's not acceptable that you get a substitution wrong," he told Sky Sport Italia. "Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but it seemed an obvious change to me.

"I've apologised both to Luca and Attilio in the dressing room. Having said that, it was still a mistake and Obi's goal doesn't change anything. I'm sorry for the way I reacted, but that is the way I am."

The change took place in the 81st minute when Torino were just 1-0 ahead at the Stadio Olimpico.

Adem Ljajic scored three minutes before Obi completed the scoring two minutes from time as Torino picked up their first win of the season after having been held to a 1-1 draw by Bologna on the opening day of the season.

Mihajlovic's men travel to Benevento after the international break.
