Weston McKennie chats with ESPN about the future of the USMNT, why he's happy he bypassed MLS for the Bundesliga and more.
Teenager Weston McKennie scored a debut goal, but the U.S. had to settle for a draw at Portugal after a goalkeeping howler.

It has been some year for Weston McKennie. In just a couple of months, the United States youngster has catapulted himself from Schalke's under-19 team to the USMNT. One thing, though, has not changed: his attitude.

"I'm still young. I have a lot of time to fix things. It's just how it is," said the 19-year-old when he sat down with ESPN FC in late November. Schalke had just sealed a remarkable turnaround in the prestigious Revierderby at Borussia Dortmund. Going into half-time with a 4-0 deficit,...

Former U.S. international Brian McBride reacts to U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati's decision to not seek re-election in 2018.
Herculez Gomez, Kasey Keller and Ale Moreno are incredulous after MLS commissioner Don Garber's comments regarding the U.S.'s WCQ failure.
Taylor Twellman says that watching the World Cup draw without USMNT involvement should be a wake-up call and motivation for U.S. Soccer.

On Tuesday, candidates hoping to win February's United States Soccer Federation presidential election will formally submit the paperwork announcing their intention to run.

U.S. soccer president Sunil Gulati is confident that North America's infrastructure will support its World Cup joint bid.

TORONTO -- Outgoing U.S. Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati says he's confident rules put in place by FIFA for 2026 World Cup bidding will be effective in making the process fairer and more transparent.

The U.S, Canada, and Mexico have submitted an "expression of interest" to FIFA to host the tournament, with Morocco the only other contender. The official bid must be submitted by March 16 and the FIFA Congress will hold a vote on June 13 to determine who will host the tournament.

Sunil Gulati: I have no preferred successor for U.S. Soccer president

Former U.S. international Brian McBride reacts to U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati's decision to not seek re-election in 2018.

TORONTO -- U.S. Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati says he doesn't have a preferred candidate to succeed him, but he'll think about endorsing someone in the next two months.

Gulati announced earlier this week that he would not seek a fourth term as USSF president. Less than 24 hours later, Soccer United Marketing president Kathy Carter announced her candidacy.

Sources told ESPN FC that she decided to run at the urging of Gulati and MLS commissioner Don Garber, though both Garber and Carter...
