Italy, Uruguay, Ghana among 10 teams to get very similar away kits from Puma

With the World Cup beginning to crown on the horizon, Puma have released a flurry of new kits for the likes of Uruguay, Ghana and Switzerland.

While rival suppliers Adidas have been widely praised for their retro-infused offerings, Puma have opted to plough a more prosaic furrow.

Indeed, it looks like "very, very white" was the central design brief for all 10 shirts, with Italy, Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Czech Republic, Austria and Serbia also getting new looks.

According to the accompanying...

How Switzerland can be seeded at the World Cup finals for Russia 2018

Switzerland were one of the shock seeds in the draw for the 2014 World Cup finals -- and they could be seeded for the 2018 event too.

Russia will be seeded as hosts, and joined by the top seven qualifiers based upon the October FIFA World Ranking, which is published after the next round of qualifiers.

But how can this be achieved by Switzerland in the Dec. 1 group-stage draw?

1. Win in Portugal

Switzerland can only realistically get enough ranking points to be in contention if they win away to Portugal....

Antoine Griezmann, Iceland and Wales among the stars of Euro 2016

Congratulations to Portugal, winners of Euro 2016.

ESPN FC had country bloggers covering their team throughout the tournament in France and each have rated their side out of 10, chosen their favourite memory, star man, team of the tournament and predict what's next for their side.

Favourite memory: Hal Robson-Kanu scoring Wales' crucial second against Belgium in their 3-1 win in the quarterfinals. The unattached striker fooled three defenders before clipping a shot...

Ronaldo and Portugal's glory, Iceland and Wales heroes while England flop

ESPN FC had bloggers covering each country at Euro 2016. It was glory for Portugal, who overcame Cristiano Ronaldo's injury to stun France in the final.

Elsewhere, England endured a miserable tournament, limping through the group stages before an abject 2-1 defeat to Iceland in the round of 16 cost Roy Hodgson his job.

Iceland were one of the stories of the competition, though, reaching the quarterfinals before bowing out to the hosts. Similarly, Wales also captured the imagination following their...

The Lionel Messi-lites of Euro 2016 are ready to entertain you

Everyone is a new version of someone else. Ryan Giggs was the new George Best when he made his Manchester United debut in 1991 and he played on the opposite flank to the previous season's new George Best, Lee Sharpe. Ever since 1994, any Romanian child who can do more than five keepie-ups has been dubbed the new Gheorghe Hagi. But as globalisation accelerates and the world becomes ever more inter-linked, the need for local or national icons has slackened off. Now everyone wants to be the new Lionel...

Uninspired Swiss meet expectations of knockout rounds at Euro 2016

Xherdan Shaqiri scored perhaps the goal of Euro 2016, with his bicycle-kick equaliser vs. Poland in the round of 16.

Switzerland eventually exited Euro 2016 after an underwhelming campaign resulted in a round-of-16 loss to Poland on Saturday. Here's an assessment of their campaign in France and where the national team goes from here.

At a glance

Uninspiring is probably the fairest way to sum it up. They did what they were expected to do by reaching the final 16, they were technically and tactically sound, yet, apart from Xherdan Shaqiri's bicycle-kick goal against Poland, they lacked the spark needed to...
