Barcelona lose Jordi Alba for 10 days with hamstring injury

The ESPN FC crew assess Spain's performance against Ukraine and if it's good enough for the European Championship.
Alvaro Morata scored his first goal for Spain to give La Roja a 1-nil victory over Ukraine.

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba will be out for around 10 days after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty.

Alba, 26, will miss the La Liga trip to Celta Vigo next Saturday and is also doubtful for the home game against Almeria three days later.

The defender was forced off during Spain's 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Ukraine on Friday.

A statement on Barcelona's official website read: "Tests performed by the FC Barcelona medical services on Saturday morning revealed that Jordi...

Daley Blind: Spain will be out for revenge against Netherlands

Netherlands manager Guus Hiddink says injuries to Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie ahead of the European qualifier with Turkey is major blow for his side.

Daley Blind believes Spain will be seeking revenge for their World Cup thrashing when they meet Netherlands on Tuesday.

Vicente del Bosque's side arrived in Brazil last summer as reigning champions but suffered their heaviest defeat since 1963 as they lost their first group game 5-1 to a Netherlands team including Manchester United's Blind.

Spain were eliminated in the group stage, while Louis van Gaal's Dutch team went on to finish third.

The sides face each other again in a friendly in Amsterdam,...

The ESPN FC crew assess Spain's performance against Ukraine and if it's good enough for the European Championship.

Alvaro Morata got the only goal, and fellow youngster Isco impressed, but Spain's 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Ukraine on Friday night did not exactly suggest a bright new dawn for La Roja.

The game began as Spain coach Vicente del Bosque presumably hoped, with his bet to play the emerging star duo in central attacking roles paying off. Juventus centre-forward Morata's clever movement was causing the visiting defence plenty of problems, while Madrid playmaker Isco was revelling in a No. 10...

Spain's second half vs. Ukraine left a 'bad taste' - Vicente del Bosque

Alvaro Morata scored his first goal for Spain to give La Roja a 1-nil victory over Ukraine.
The ESPN FC crew assess Spain's performance against Ukraine and if it's good enough for the European Championship.

Vicente del Bosque says Spain's second-half performance left "a bad taste in my mouth" even though his side hung on for a 1-0 win over Ukraine in Friday's European qualifier.

Alvaro Morata supplied Spain an early lead, but Ukraine found opportunities after the break with Iker Casillas stopping Ruslan Rotan on more than one occasion.

"We dropped off in the second half and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth," Del Bosque said.

"In the first half we played well and had chances. In the second we had...
