Serbia get CAS date to challenge Kosovo UEFA membership

Serbia have appealed to the CAS as part of their opposition to Kosovo's UEFA membership.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- The Serbian football federation has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against Kosovo being accepted as a member of UEFA.

CAS said it will hear the case on Oct. 31. In May, UEFA member federations voted 28-24 in favor of Kosovo's application after Serbia led the opposition to its former province.

The then-president of Serbia's federation, Tomislav Karadzic, said it was a "political vote, not a footballing proposal."

FIFA denies Serbia bid to recruit Spain and Stoke forward Bojan Krkic

FIFA president Gianni Infantino backs new UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and denies his own influence in the election.
Bojan Krkic plays his club football for Stoke City.

ZURICH -- FIFA has denied Serbia's request to transfer former Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic's international eligibility because he already played a World Cup qualifying match for Spain.

FIFA says it referred the Serbian football federation to two rules governing players' national team eligibility.

Serbia made the request despite a long-established FIFA rule that...

Martin O'Neill hails resilient Ireland after fight back to earn draw

A late goal from Daryl Murphy, his first goal with the national team, helped Ireland earn a 2-2 draw against Serbia.
The Republic of Ireland snatched a late draw from Serbia on Monday.
Republic of Ireland fought back to salvage a point from their trip to Belgrade on Monday.

Martin O'Neill was once again left to marvel at the Republic of Ireland's resilience as they came from behind in Serbia to open their World Cup qualifying account with a hard-earned point.

Substitute Daryl Murphy's 80th-minute header meant the Republic left the Rajko Mitic Stadium with a 2-2 draw on a night when their fortunes soared, then dipped before ultimately turning once again.

Jeff Hendrick fired Ireland into a third-minute lead, but Filip Kostic's equaliser and Dusan Tadic's penalty looked...

A late goal from Daryl Murphy, his first goal with the national team, helped Ireland earn a 2-2 draw against Serbia.

Daryl Murphy chose the perfect moment to end his wait for a first Republic of Ireland goal when he came off the bench to snatch a 2-2 World Cup qualifier draw in Serbia.

Murphy's 80th-minute contribution to an eventful contest at the Rajko Mitic Stadium handed Ireland a positive start to their Group D campaign on a night when they never hit the heights they scaled at their best in France this summer.

But as they always do, they kept going until the death and once again, emerged with something to...
